This updated course enhances the capabilities of FTO’s, Corporals, Sergeants, and Team Leaders* responsible for the resolution of critical incidents in a patrol environment. It will strengthen the student’s knowledge, skills & techniques to successfully initiate a credible action plan to handle various critical incidents, and to be able to communicate and justify your actions in a post-incident critique. This course may reduce litigation when supporting department actions in these highly litigated events.

The easiest way to register a group of individuals is using our online system. To choose group registration, click the registration link at the top of this page. Login to our system or create an account. Then, on the registration page, click the second blue button indicating group registration for your agency. On the following screen, click the green button that says “Register an Attendee” and search for attendees you wish to register. Follow the prompts to complete the registration process.
All cancellations and substitutions MUST be in writing and directed to the CPOA Training Coordinator @ firstname.lastname@example.org. All refunds will be processed within 30 days from the written date of the cancellation request.
Cancellations made 30 calendar days or more from the first day of your registered course will be refunded minus a $30 cancellation fee.
Cancellations made 29 calendar days to 10 calendar days from the first day of your registered course will receive a 50% refund.
Cancellations made 9 calendar days or less from the first day of your registered course are NOT eligible to receive a refund.
*Registrants who cannot attend a course are strongly encouraged to find a substitution.
CPOA encourages you to make a substitution if a student cannot attend the course; substitutions will be accepted prior to the course in writing and on-site.

Greg Galliano is a Sergeant with the Sacramento Police Department, serving as a member of the Impact Team. As the Impact Sergeant he is responsible for the supervision of the Homeless Outreach program and the Mobile Crisis Support program. This has included program development for the police department and external partners. He also serves as the department’s expert for the Crisis Intervention Program. He has been a member of the department for eleven years serving as an instructor for the Sacramento Police Academy, a field training officer and a patrol sergeant. Prior to joining the Sacramento Police Department, he attended the University of California at Davis where he earned a B.A. in Psychology. He later attended Fuller Graduate School where he earned a M.A. in Theology.
Randy Van Dusen
Sgt Randy Van Dusen has been with the Sacramento Police Department since 1998. In addition to working positions in patrol and problem oriented policing, he was a full time K9 handler for 12 years and worked as one of the department’s SWAT K9 handlers. Sgt Van Dusen has been directly involved in the resolution of numerous critical incidents including barricaded suspects, pursuits, homicide scenes, warrant services, area & building searches as well as officer involved shootings. He is the recipient of four medals of valor, three life-saving awards, and two unit citations. From 2016 to 2018, Sgt Van Dusen led a regional fugitive task force responsible for tracking and arresting wanted felony suspects. In 2018, Sgt Van Dusen took over leading the Sacramento Police Air Operations Team where he is responsible for coordinating day to day regional air support involving the department’s helicopters and fixed wing assets. Randy is married with a beautiful daughter and two German Shepherds at home. In his time away from work, he enjoys his daughter’s softball games, hiking, camping and running 50 and 100 mile ultra marathons.
