Legislative Day 2017

Collaborate with fellow public safety professionals at the 25th Annual Law Enforcement Legislative Day, March 14-15, 2017 in Sacramento. Speakers and discussion will focus on the results of the 2016 General Election and newly enacted legislation. Whether you are a seasoned advocate or have never met with a lawmaker, Legislative Day is the perfect opportunity to build and fortify your relationships with colleagues and lawmakers, and become more involved and effective in the public policy arena.

You may attend the Master Class, Legislative Day, or both; the Legislative Reception is included in all options.

Master Class:

Back by popular demand, the Master Class will give attendees the opportunity to learn how the practice of advocacy benefits your agency as well as provide first hand insight into the legislative process. The morning session will detail how you can personally influence the outcome of public safety bills and budget proposals. In the afternoon, appointments will be set up with legislators, giving you the opportunity to discuss key topics of interest to your agency and the profession with elected officials and staff.

Join us the evening of March 14th for a Legislative Reception where you can mingle with legislators and your colleagues while enjoying a bite to eat. The cost is included with your Master Class and/or Legislative Day registration fees.

Legislative Day is your opportunity to explore the critical legislative issues facing public safety today. This event is your chance to discover how the results of the fall election will affect law enforcement in California. Check back in the days ahead for the finalized program.

Hotel Block:
Hyatt Regency Sacramento, $145 per night per diem rate, block to open Friday, Dec. 2 2016.

Transportation from airport:
The Hyatt is 10 miles from the airport. The hotel does not provide a shuttle, but the hotel recommends using SuperShuttle. Attendees can visit www.supershuttle.com or call 1-800-BLUEVAN to reserve their spot. Taxis and ride share services are also available at the airport.

The easiest way to register a group of individuals is using our online system. To choose group registration, click the registration link at the top of this page. Login to our system or create an account. Then, on the registration page, click the second blue button indicating group registration for your agency. On the following screen, click the green button that says “Register an Attendee” and search for attendees you wish to register. Follow the prompts to complete the registration process.

Cancellation Policy:

Master Class fee is nonrefundable. Cancellation fee for Legislative Day is $25 until February 17th. After February 17th, all fees are nonrefundable. Substitutions are encouraged. All requests for refunds, cancellations, and substitutions must be sent in writing to the CPOA office via email at cpoa@cpoa.org or fax at 916-520-2277.

Substitution Policy:

CPOA encourages you to make a substitution if a student cannot attend the course; substitutions will be accepted prior to the course in writing and on-site.
