CPOA FOP Lodge 100 Legal Defense Plan

CPOA has been proud to provide our supervisory, managerial, and executive level members with our Legal Services Program (LSP). Recently, however, the LSP Board of Trustees agreed to move forward with dissolving the CPOA LSP plan and transitioning it over the Legal Defense Plan (LDP) of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). CPOA’s Board of Directors recognize that legal defense protection is a necessity for law enforcement professionals.  As the frequency and cost of allegations rise, the FOP Legal Defense Plan offers you a very affordable and comprehensive plan. How do I know I was rolled over?

If you renewed your LSP coverage at any point in the 2021 calendar year then you were automatically rolled over to FOP LDP. If you did not renew your LSP coverage in 2021, and did not opt to renew during the open renewal period you will need to reenroll in the FOP LDP program as a new enrollee.

If you retired in 2021 and allowed your LSP coverage to lapse you will need to apply for the FOP LDP Retiree program as a new enrollee.

How do I file a claim?
All potential claims must be reported to Sedgwick Claims Management services. Please submit your claim using the Claim Reporting Form. Sedgwick will review the claim, make a coverage determination and communicate with you and your chosen attorney.

Do I get to choose my own attorney?
Yes. If you choose a Plan Attorney, there is no deductible and no limit on attorney fees. If you choose a Non-Plan Attorney, there is a $250 deductible and a limit on attorney fees. A Non-Plan Attorney can become a Plan Attorney by simply enrolling and meeting the Plan’s requirements at the time he or she begins to represent you. Please contact Sedgwick Claims Management Services, Inc. for an Attorney Enrollment Packet.
